Once Prahavana Jaivali, a Kshatriya Prince of the Panchalas, accosted a young Brahmin called Svattaketu and asked him 5 questions relating to life, its origin and the destiny of soul after death. The Brahmin whose Guru is his own father could not answer them. The Brahmin Guru himself sought answers from the Prince. The explanations given by the Prince are summarized as follows:
1. There are five yajnas or sacrifices, and as a result of those sacrifices the elemental matter is ultimately converted into life or into a person as under:
(a)There is the fire and the Sun and the elemental matter is the oblation offered to it. The result of this yajna is the production of Soma, the life giving juice.
(b)Then Soma is poured into parjanya, the power that brings rain. The result is rain itself. The rain is poured as an offering on earth and food is the result.
(d)When food is offered to a man and when he digests it, the vital fluid called retas (semen) is produced.
(e)When retas enters the body of a woman, the embryo comes into being and a child is born. Thus, the elemental matter is converted into life after going through the five stages.
2. Since the man's body is made up of four elements, it is dissolved into those constituents, after death.
3. But the destiny of his soul depends upon his actions and his knowledge. If he has attained real spiritual knowledge, he goes by Devayana, the Path of Light, and does not return to this earthly existence, His soul becomes immortal.
4. But if he has lead a life full of desires and spent it in doing good deeds out of a desire for heaven, his soul goes by Pitrayana, the Path of Darkness, to heaven, remains there till his merit is exhausted and then hurries back to this world and takes his birth according to the general nature of his former actions.
5. But, if his is a life of sin and evil deeds and wickedness, if he was all along engaged in stealing, drinking, killing and debauch or in associating with people occupied with these sinful acts (these are the five great sins) he forfeits his claim to both immortality and heaven. He is born and reborn here on the earth and he goes through the cycle of lives of insects and worms and the vile vermin and suffers interminably.
Thus of those who are born on earth, some pass on and away to the world of Brahman, from which there is no return. Some others go to heaven, stay there for a time and then return to worldly existence, and numerous others are caught up in the ever-recurring cycle of birth and death.
Chittaranjan: Since Prana is essence of life and it wants food which in turn offered to sun represented by Agni, offerings are made to agni?
ShivYogi: Since you are referring to the above reference material and trying to deduce we can explain the phenomenon scientifically as follows;
- The concept of offering Havis (Including food along with other ingredients) is twofold. 1. The ingredients offered will have medicinal value and when offered to Agni the fire it emulates fumes and if inhaled will have a healing effect on the participants of Homa. I have already explained the importance of Homa Therapy. 2. The fumes will go up into the ether and mixes with the rain bearing clouds (Seeding of clouds) and when it rains the distilled elements of the ingredients offered will go into the earth then absorbed by the plants which is in turn eaten by the human beings and animals and will be converted to the power of recreation through the formation of retas (Semen) and it takes care of the progeny explaining how elemental matter is converted into life.
- As regarding Devayana, pitrayana and being caught in the cycle of life and death it can be explained with a scientific example as follows; ---------- Tie a thread to a stone and swing it in air continuously, we know that it develops centrifugal and centripetal forces one pulling the stone away from the earth and one pulling it towards the earth. Stone is the being, centrifugal force is the strong pull of love towards GOD/BRAHMAN and centripetal force is the strong pull of the DESIRE. The love towards GOD/BRAHMAN might be unconditional, conditional or the love is not there at all. If the love is unconditional and there is no desire the centrifugal force takes over and the being is catapulted into Devayana path. If the love is Conditional with a Desire (positive) the Centrifugal force is greater than the Centripetal force (But the centripetal force still exists) hence the being is catapulted into Pitrayana path. If there is no love and the being is immersed in desire (Negative) then the centripetal force takes over and he is caught in the cycle of life and death....................”punarapi jananam, punarapi maranam...........Bhaja Govindam Bhaja Govindam Bhajagovindam Bhaja Moodhamathe.....

ShivYogi: There are three levels of representation of Divinity
1. Mantra- Sound form – Beejakshara.- Beeja contains the Tree-Mantra contains Divinity
2. Yantra: Physical diagrammatic form representing Divinity
3. Idol: Having physical attributes
one of the explaination - Tantra: derived from two words “Tatva” and “Mantra”. Tatva is the science of cosmic principle. Mantra, science of mystic sound and vibration. Hence tantra is the application of cosmic sciences with a view to attain spiritual ascendency
Another explanation of Tantra derived from the root word tan meaning to extend, spread, continue, spin out, weave, to put forth, to show or manifest.

Chittaranjan: What is MERU with respect to Spiritual, Physical context?
ShivYogi: Very good question. MERU is the 3 dimensional representation of Sri Chakra or Sri Yantra. There are 3 different version of Sri Chakra 1.Bhuprastha (2D) 2. Khurmaprastha (3D raised on Tortoise back) and 3. Meru Prastha (Raised fully like a mountain). Spiritually it represents navavarana 9 layers/veils to reach Devi-it’s a medium to reach the abode of Devi the Universal Mother. There are fundamentally 3 approaches in Srividya 1.Dakshinachara 2.Samayachara 3.Vamachara. In Samayachara the physical body with its 7 chakras represents Meru.
Chittaranjan: What is Dhakshina and Vamachara
ShivYogi: Dakshinachara: Right-Hand path: is a spiritual path where deities mainly Shakti & Shiva are worshiped. It accepts absolute equality of Shiv & Shakti. Vamachara: Left-Hand path it is associated with panchMakaras 5Ms.It places strict rituals limits on the use of these literal forms and warn against nonsanctioned use. “The Tantric rites can be practiced in the purest form possible, without a touch of 5Ms, and this is amply proved by the lives of numerous Saints of this School”.

ShivYogi: There are 7 energy centres represented by 7 beejaksharas
Chittaranjan: What are the beejaksharas corresponding to the different Chakras.
ShivYogi: Muladhara-Lam, Swadhisthana-Vam, Manipura-Ram, Anahata-Yam, Vishudha-Ham, Ajna-OM, Sahasrara-Silence.
Chittaranjan: As kundalini ascends from chakra to next chakra is there awareness and is evolution taking place?
ShivYogi: Learned people say it will be very subtle, like ant walking. Some experience as snake moving. It is highly subjective. But once again I reiterate that one has to experience without expectation. Expectation spoils the experience. One will evolve as one progress.
Chittaranjan: Good Night
ShivYogi: Shubharatri
Tuesday 30th Oct 2008 6:20 am to 8am
Chittaranjan: What is the difference between Rishi and Sanyasi?
ShivYogi: Rishi: formed from the verbal root rs – to flow, pour. Denotes a Vedic Saint to whom Vedic hyms were revealed. . They were generally in Gruhastashrama.. Sanyasi – There are 4 Varnashramas 1.Brahmacharya2.Gruhasta 3. Vanaprasta 4. Sanyasa. Some people preferred to lead a renounced order of life .They wore Kashaya and lead a celibate life.
Chittaranjan: What is Para and Apara Vidya?
ShivYogi: Para Vidya – Study of Brahman which is beyond everything is called Para Vidya. The Knowledge that leads to Self Realisation is called Para Vidya. Everything else is called Apara Vidya.
Chittaranjan: Do you know Bhargavi Varuni Vidya? ...The Spirit is encased in 5 Khoshas, and unveiling the subtle Khoshas is known as Bhargavi Varuni Vidya. They are interpenentrating.
ShivYogi: Yes Bhagavi Varunin Vidya in simple terms is the vidya which elaborates on Panchakhoshas (5). 1.Annamaya 2.Pranamaya 3.Manomaya 4. Vignanamaya and 5.Anandamaya Khoshas. This teaching occurs in the Taittriya Upanishad and forms the subject matter of conversation between VARUNA and his son BHRGU.
Chittaranjan: What is Veda, Vedanta and Upanishad?
ShivYogi: Veda- ‘Knowledge’. Vedas are ‘apurusheya’ not of human origin but directly revealed and thus are called ‘Shruti’. There are 4 Vedas 1. Rigveda. 2. Yajurveda. 3. Samaveda. 4. Atharvaveda. Vedanta: Literal meaning-the end of Veda and refers to the teachings of the Upanishads which constitute the last section of the Veda and to the knowledge of its ultimate meaning. Upanishads: means the inner or mystic teachings. The term Upanishad is derived from Upa-near ni-down and shad-to sit ie sitting down near GURU.
Chittaranjan: Pascal Law- the sum of evil is diminished if men could only learn to sit quietly in their room.
ShivYogi: But “Idle Mind is a Devil’s Workshop”
Chittaranjan: It is seeking Thoughtlessness and not idleness
ShivYogi: I wanted you to qualify ‘sitting quiet’! Now you are on the right track!
Chittaranjan: We accept the authority of another in seeking Truth. Why?
ShivYogi: Small correction-We accept the authority of the GURU while seeking TRUTH. Because we have faith in Guru’s Knowledge and Wisdom which comes out of experience.
Chittaranjan: Then are we not seeking-and hence not free in the mind?
ShivYogi: If you are free in the mind you won’t seek!
Chittaranjan: Is it not escape from the actual reality of ‘what is’?
ShivYogi: If one knows ‘what is’ there is nothing called escape or seeking ‘you are that’!
Chittaranjan: FREE, from reality promised by Guru?
ShivYogi: Faith in the GURU and sadhana will make one reach the reality. Several examples -Totakacharya of Shankaracharya, Narendra (Vivekananda) of Ramakrishna.
1st October 2008 8:50 am
Chittaranjan: Is ‘Aham Brahmasmi’ cause of ego?
ShivYogi: without the knowledge and humility, Yes
Chittaranjan: Do you know where the sleeping man, goes during sleep-all power withdrawn but the body is living and active?
ShivYogi: Human beings experience three stages. In the waking state-Jagrath Awastha-he experiences everything through his panchendriyas – 5 sensory organs. In the dreaming state-Swapna Awastha-he once again experience which when he wakes up says it was a dream. In the deep sleep state-Sushupti-he merges in that Universal, Cosmic eternal Peace. He is not aware but he feels happy after the event. There is the 4th state-Thuria-in this state he merges in that Universal, Cosmic eternal Peace but he is aware and he feels happy.
Chittaranjan: Has intelligence withdrawn all the power of consciousness from all parts of the body and is rest in space or vacuum?
ShivYogi: Intelligence will not be active during the deep sleep state (All the panchendriyas also will be put to rest). The consciousness merges in that Universal Cosmic eternal Peace.
5:49pm
Chittaranjan: What is Gothra or lineage?
ShivYogi: Gotra is a term applied to a lineage-Patrilinial in nature-whose members trace their descent to a common ancestor, usually a sage of ancient times.
Chittaranjan: What is Homa What is the significance of Prana, anna and agni?
ShivYogi: Homa, Havan, Yagna, refers to any ritual in which making offering into a consecrated fire is the primary action.
The consecrated fire (Agni) forms the focus of devotion. All the ingredients (Havis) offered has medicinal value and if inhaled will have great effect on the participant. Homa procedures are researched in Germany and are now being used as a therapy for retarded children. It is called Homa Therapy.
Prana the energy if properly controlled through kriyas (Process) during the Homa will prepare the Kartru the person performing to focus and concentrate to benefit more from the act. Anna is part of the Havis. Havis is the term used for the oblations offered to the God which are offered to the fire with reverence. Agni is the medium, which carries the Havis to different Gods. Havyapaka is the oblation cooked with butter and milk.
Chittaranjan: Is the spirit ever present in the four states of consciousness?
ShivYogi: If you refer spirit as Soul it will be present in all four states of consciousness.
Chittaranjan: How is elemental matter converted into life? What is Devayana and Pitryana?
ShivYogi: The answer is very long hence I am sending by email, Good night. Wish you Devayana!
Answer sent through email;
Once Prahavana Jaivali, a Kshatriya Prince of the Panchalas, accosted a young Brahmin called Svattaketu and asked him 5 questions relating to life, its origin and the destiny of soul after death.
